'Project Opus', Southampton.

Overbury is a leading UK fit out and refurbishment specialist, known for delivering commercial, education and workplace environments. As part of ‘Project Opus’ in Southampton, Overbury commissioned VGL to create and install vibrant and durable graphics to visually improve both the external and internal spaces during the construction phase.

With some of the staff working from temporary offices and a prominent south-coast site exposed to the elements, the brief was to brighten the environment, while ensuring the graphics would remain visually strong for the full duration of the project.

Our Approach.

From the outset, the focus from VGL was understanding both the creative intent and the practical challenges of the construction site. Working closely with Overbury and in conjunction with Southampton University, who had designed the artwork, VGL reviewed how the visuals would translate into a real-world environment.

As the artwork was originally designed as a flat piece, a detailed site survey was carried out to account for the incline of the hoarding area. This allowed the team at VGL to adjust the artwork accordingly, ensuring it would display correctly once installed.

The Solution.

Internally, the team supplied and installed vinyl wall graphics throughout the temporary offices, along with bespoke vinyl for meeting room tables, reinforcing brand presence and creating a more engaging working environment for staff.

Externally, VGL installed outdoor graphics which were mounted to di-bond panels, creating hoardings that would withstand the coastal weather conditions for the duration of the build. VGL also delivered graphics for the outside seating area, helping to transform the construction surroundings into a more welcoming space.

The Result.

The finished installation successfully brightened both the external and internal spaces, meeting Overbury’s requirements for longevity and visual impact, ensuring a polished result throughout the construction period.

By choosing VGL, Overbury benefited from expert site surveying, material knowledge and a collaborative approach that ensured smooth delivery from concept through to installation.
