The Final Salute: Arsenal Football clubs last season at Highbury.

For 93 years Arsenal stadium in Highbury has been the home to Arsenal Football club and 2006 will be their last season there before taking up residence in the new Emirates Stadium.

VgL were commissioned by Platform for Art (the public art programme for London Underground) to produce a vinyl wall mural along the passageway at Arsenal Underground station to celebrate the clubs proud 93 year history and involvement with the local community. Gillespie Road underground station in Highbury was re-named Arsenal in 1932 after a campaign by fans and the 60 metre long wall mural depicts a vibrant and exciting image of historic archive material.

Platform for Art collaborated with London Underground staff, Arsenal players and The Greenwich Mural Workshop to create the design and artwork for the mural that has been digitally arranged and fused into one long narrative composition that seamlessly traces the story of one of the world's most famous football clubs.
