VgL has enhanced its reputation for high impact print by investing £250,000 on becoming the first company in the UK to purchase the Océ LightJet 500XL photo laser printer. The superwide format LightJet, capable of printing up to 183 cm wide, gives VgL a significant competitive edge in the UK for the production of wide format lightboxes, wall murals, and retail banners. No other printer can match the Océ LightJet 500XL’s combination of speed, quality price and size. It prints up to 183 x 304.8 cm at a top speed of 45 sq/m per hour, while maintaining apparent resolution of 4,000 dpi - statistics which persuaded Michael Ayerst, Managing Director of VgL, that the LightJet 500XL was the perfect addition to the company’s rapidly growing digital printing repertoire.
Ayerst said: "We take pride in producing graphics that are both big and bold or small and beautiful, and we wanted something that was unique in the UK. The prints from the Océ LightJet 500XL are simply stunning, and the quality is unparalleled. It’s a great machine, and we always look to provide the best for our customers." "There will be big benefits for our retail customers," Ayerst continued. "Before the LightJet 500XL, when we printed Duratrans for lightbox graphics, there would always be a visible join when light was shone through a graphic wider than 1,240 mm. Now we can print considerably larger lightbox graphics, at the highest quality with no join visible." "These LightJet prints are so much better than the output from the slower inkjets we had to use before, giving our customers the best of both worlds, better quality and faster turnaround times."
